Coaching with GROWTH
Introduction
The ability to coach effectively is one of the most critical skills for leaders, managers, and professionals who want to unlock the best in others. Unlike mentoring or training, coaching is a non-intervention approach that empowers individuals to find their own solutions, build ownership, and create lasting change.
The GROWTH™ Coaching Framework — Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward, Track Progress, Harness Learning — provides a clear, structured pathway to guide powerful coaching conversations. Rooted in internationally recognized coaching principles and enriched with NLP-based listening and questioning skills, this framework ensures conversations remain client-centered, insightful, and action-driven.
Across three immersive days, participants will explore the mindset, tools, and practices that define impactful coaching. They will learn how to hold space without intervening, ask questions that expand awareness, and support others in moving from clarity to commitment with accountability. Most importantly, participants will practice coaching in real-time through structured triads and feedback, building the confidence to apply coaching skills immediately in the workplace.
By the end of the program, participants will not only understand the GROWTH™ framework but will also embody the presence and discipline of a professional coach — able to unlock performance, potential, and growth in any context.
Objective
At the end of the GROWTH™ Coaching Program, participants will be able to:
Key Takeaway
Outline
Module 1: Introduction to Coaching
This opening module lays the foundation for the program by establishing what coaching truly is — and what it is not. Participants will explore the distinction between coaching, mentoring, training, consulting, and therapy, and understand why a non-intervention approach is critical to unlocking ownership and sustainable change. They will also examine the mindset of an effective coach, with emphasis on presence, neutrality, and curiosity.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “What’s Coaching, What’s Not”
Through small-group role plays, participants act out short scenarios (mentoring, advising, coaching, teaching). The group then discusses which are truly coaching and why.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to clearly explain the role and stance of a coach, and commit to adopting a non-intervention, growth-oriented coaching mindset.
Module 2: The GROWTH™ Framework
This module introduces participants to the GROWTH™ Coaching Framework — Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward, Track Progress, Harness Learning. Participants will explore the purpose of each step, how they connect, and why this structured flow creates clarity and empowerment in coaching conversations. The framework will serve as the backbone of all practice throughout the program.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Framework Mapping”
Participants bring a current workplace or leadership challenge and map it onto the GROWTH™ framework, identifying what each stage could look like in practice. They then share insights in pairs.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to describe the GROWTH™ framework, explain its stages, and begin applying it as a structured guide for coaching conversations.
Module 3: Coaching Presence & Listening Skills
Effective coaching begins with the ability to be fully present. This module develops the foundational skills of deep listening, calibration, and creating a space where the coaches feels heard and safe to explore. Participants will learn to go beyond words, tuning into tone, emotion, and non-verbal cues, while practicing the discipline of neutrality and curiosity.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Listening Layers”
Participants pair up and take turns sharing a short personal story. The listener practices listening on one “layer” at a time (facts, emotions, intentions) and reflects back what they heard. Feedback is exchanged on presence and depth of listening.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to demonstrate coaching presence and apply deep listening skills that create trust, safety, and insight in coaching conversations.
Module 4: Goal Setting in Coaching (G)
The first step of the GROWTH™ framework is clarifying Goals. This module equips participants with techniques to help coaches articulate meaningful goals that are specific, motivating, and aligned to their values. Participants will explore how to distinguish between surface-level targets and deeper outcomes, and practice guiding conversations that create clarity without imposing their own agenda.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Goal Clarity Drill”
In triads, one participant plays the coachee with a vague or broad goal. The coach practices clarifying the goal using well-formed outcome questions, while the observer tracks how effectively the goal is sharpened. Roles are rotated.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to facilitate goal-setting conversations that establish clear, client-owned outcomes as the foundation of the coaching process.
Module 5: Exploring Reality (R)
Once goals are clarified, the next step in the GROWTH™ framework is exploring the current reality. This module equips participants with the skills to ask powerful questions that uncover facts, perspectives, and assumptions. Participants will practice creating awareness without judgment, helping coaches see their situation more clearly.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Reality Check Triads”
In groups of three, one person acts as coach, one as coach, and one as observer. The coach practices staying fully in “R,” exploring the current reality with open, probing questions. The observer uses a checklist to track the balance of directive vs. non-directive language. Roles are rotated.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to facilitate conversations that expand a coach’s awareness of their present situation, enabling them to see beyond assumptions and uncover deeper insights.
Module 6: Generating Options (O)
The third step of the GROWTH™ framework is about creating Options. In this module, participants learn how to help coaches generate multiple possibilities, even beyond their current mindset or limitations. The emphasis is on divergent thinking and non-directive exploration, ensuring coaches own their ideas.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Option Storming”
In triads, the coach challenges the coaches to create at least 10 options for their situation, resisting the urge to suggest. Observers track the quality and neutrality of questioning. Roles are rotated.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to facilitate option-generation conversations that expand possibilities and inspire creativity without imposing solutions.
Module 7: The Way Forward (W)
Options only matter when turned into action. This module focuses on guiding coaches to identify their preferred path, test its feasibility, and commit with ownership. Participants learn how to support decision-making without prescribing or pushing.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Commitment Conversations”
Pairs practice moving from a set of generated options to a concrete way forward. Observers provide feedback on whether the coach-maintained neutrality while enabling clarity.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to guide coaches in selecting and owning a way forward, ensuring alignment and motivation.
Module 8: Coaching Triads – GROW Practice
This module integrates the first four steps of the framework Goal, Reality, Options, and Way Forward into a full coaching cycle. Participants will practice extended sessions, rotate roles, and receive structured feedback.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “GROW Coaching Session”
In triads, one person coaches through the full GROW sequence (20–30 minutes), while the observer uses a rubric to score clarity, neutrality, and flow. Roles are rotated.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to conduct a complete GROW coaching session with confidence, integrating listening, questioning, and framework application.
Module 9: Building Accountability (T – Track Progress)
Progress happens when intentions are sustained. This module equips participants to help coaches design accountability systems that keep momentum alive. The focus is on supporting responsibility without micromanaging.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Accountability Planner”
In pairs, participants design a follow-up system for a coaching case, including check-in points and measures of success. They test it with role play for clarity and feasibility.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to help coaches build accountability structures that support consistent progress toward their goals.
Module 10: Harnessing Learning (H)
True growth comes from reflection, not just action. This module focuses on capturing insights from coaching, celebrating progress, and embedding learning into future situations.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Harvesting Insights”
Participants coach each other through a short reflection exercise on a past challenge, focusing on lessons learned and how they shape future actions.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to guide coachees in harnessing learning from both successes and challenges, embedding growth for the long term.
Module 11: Advanced Coaching Conversations
Not all coaching is straightforward. This module prepares participants to handle silence, resistance, and emotions while maintaining neutrality and presence.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Challenge Scenarios”
Role-play exercises where participants face coaching situations such as a disengaged coachee, strong resistance, or emotional outbursts. Peers and facilitators provide feedback on presence and response.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to manage challenging coaching dynamics with professionalism and confidence.
Module 12: Coaching Lab & Integration
This capstone module brings the entire GROWTH™ framework together. Participants conduct full-length coaching sessions, applying all six steps, while receiving structured feedback and reflection time.
In this module, participants will:
Activity – “Coaching Showcase Lab”
Participants rotate in triads (coach, coaches, observer) for a full session. Observers score using a rubric on clarity, neutrality, flow, and impact. Debrief follows with facilitator input.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to demonstrate competence in the complete GROWTH™ coaching process and leave with a clear action plan for continued practice and application.
